Huck Finn Adventure
Your Tennessee River Raft Tour
Today you are going to have a Huck Finn Adventure floating in an inflatable raft! Good ol’ Huck didn’t have the outboard motor we have but this tour will be a GORGE-ous trip on the Tennessee River through the Tennessee River Gorge aka Blueway where you make your own adventure! Please note, this is an outdoor adventure for the whole family with few age or impairment limitations. Basically, if you can stand and walk on your own, you can get on the raft!
Typical Huck Finn Adventure Tennessee River Rafting Tour:
8:30 am – Arrive at outpost and check-in. Get your coffee/hot tea/water fix.
8:45 am – Meet your guide – life vests and all necessary gear issued. Safety protocol review and briefing by Captain.
9:00 am – Convoy to the put-in location. This is the official start of
your 3-hour tour time.
9:15 am – At put-in, help unload raft and watch the sun light up the canyon walls. Follow all instructions from Captain prior to boarding.
9:30 am – On the river! View mist rising off of the water, herons glide across the river in front of you. Eagles, osprey, and hawks (vultures too!) soar on thermals rising up from the canyon floor. Feel the swell of the river on the raft. Then stop at the sandbar; wildflowers and hardwoods cover the mountain canyon. Rope swing anyone? If the conditions are working with us maybe stop and have a swim. Then move through the Suck, Kettle, Pot, Skillet, and finally – the Pan. Look out for Mungo chutes! We turn around at Raccoon Mountain and motor up the river to enjoy Prentice Cooper Preserve, the Grand Canyon of the Tennessee River!
12:30 pm – Back to put-in location. Return raft to trailer – return to outpost.
1:00 pm – Debriefing by your Captain. Corn hole game available at the outpost. Take some time and share photos and videos of your recent Huck Finn Adventure with family and friends (and don’t forget our Instagram)!

“Tour goers will travel through the Pot, and also through the Pan and the Skillet. Areas of the river that created navigational hazards to past travelers of the Gorge.“
